# 📣 Majors (/discord-community/majors)

Majors bring people together through games and social activities in [The Vault Discord](https://discord.gg/thevaultfinance). Chosen by staff, they plan events, welcome players and help everyone take part. Majors automatically receive [Prefect](/discord-community/prefects) powers alongside their event-hosting responsibilities.

## How Majors are chosen [#how-majors-are-chosen]

Staff select and appoint Majors. If you would like to host, speak to the community team about the activities you enjoy, your availability and the events you would like to run.

The role suits members who enjoy explaining games, organizing a group and keeping activities friendly and fair. Staff appointment gives a Major access to the hosting tools and Prefect powers. Hosted events earn small payments that are paid weekly (Figure 19.14).

## What Majors do [#what-majors-do]

Majors take care of the event from planning through to the final attendance list:

* Plan activities: Choose a game, arrange a time and keep the event calendar up to date.
* Welcome players: Share the room or channel instructions, explain the rules and help newcomers join in.
* Host the session: Keep the game moving, answer questions and encourage fair participation.
* Record attendance: Open the attendance list, review who took part and finalize the list for staff to process.
* Support community moderation: Use their Prefect powers to help uphold the rules and handle concerns responsibly.

See [Game events](/discord-community/game-events) for the current activities, schedule and participant instructions.

## Host a community event [#host-a-community-event]

Appointed Majors use the calendar and attendance tools to organize their sessions.

<Steps>
  <Step>
    ### Open your hosting dashboard [#open-your-hosting-dashboard]

    Use `/majors` to receive your personal calendar link. The bot sends it by direct message, or in a private command response if it cannot send a DM. Keep that personal link to yourself.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    ### Schedule the event [#schedule-the-event]

    Choose the activity, date, time and location. Add the details players need and keep the listing current if your plans change. Scheduled events appear in the community calendar and announcements.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    ### Welcome players and open attendance [#welcome-players-and-open-attendance]

    In the event's text channel, use `/attendance start` with the event name. Explain the game and ask participants to send `!here` while attendance is open. A participant can use `!undo` to correct an accidental entry.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    ### Finalize the attendance list [#finalize-the-attendance-list]

    Use `/attendance end` in the same channel, review your event's list and make any needed corrections using the hosting instructions. Use `/attendance done` with the event ID when the list is ready for staff to process the attendee rewards.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Weekly event payments and role rewards [#weekly-event-payments-and-role-rewards]

Majors receive a small payment for each event they host, paid weekly. Staff confirm the current per-event rate and payment arrangements with hosts.

Event-hosting payments are separate from the weekly in-server rewards for holding the Major role. The current role reward is:

* 10,000 [credits](/discord-community/discord-economy#credits).
* 10 [raffle tickets](/discord-community/discord-economy#weekly-tickets-and-raffles).
* Five [Quest Scrolls](/discord-community/discord-economy#quest-scrolls).

The weekly role reward is scheduled for Monday at 01:00 UTC, after the ticket reset, so its tickets count toward the new week. A Major with the Prefect role receives the Major reward once. [Community Council](/discord-community/community-council) rewards are separate and can be added if the member also serves on the Council.

See [Economy](/discord-community/discord-economy) for how to use credits, scrolls, crystals and tickets.

## Prefect responsibilities [#prefect-responsibilities]

Majors automatically receive Prefect powers and share the responsibility to use them fairly. They can help review reports, address rule violations and use the community's moderation tools. The report and appeal process is explained in [Prefects](/discord-community/prefects).
