# 🌱 Staking APY (/users/staking-apy)

The Vault's staking yield varies with network rewards, validator performance and fees. Check the current displayed APY on [The Vault](https://thevault.finance/) rather than treating a historical range as a forecast.

## Network security rewards [#network-security-rewards]

[vSOL](/about/vsol) represents a share of the pool. Staking rewards normally increase the SOL backing each token. Pool APY is an estimate and can change; it is not a guaranteed return. The components below have different roles (Figure 18.1).

## MEV rewards [#mev-rewards]

MEV rewards passed to the pool after validator MEV commission can contribute to returns. A higher validator commission is a fee retained by the operator, not an extra reward for vSOL holders. See [The Vault fees](/about/the-vault-fees).

## Reward tokens [#reward-tokens]

[vPoints](/vault-points/points-program) and other incentives have separate eligibility and program terms. They are not included in base staking rewards merely because you hold vSOL. Check [Earn Points](https://thevault.finance/earn-points) for current opportunities.

Using liquidity or [Kamino Multiply](/kamino-multiply/kamino-multiply-strategy) positions changes costs and risks. See [Risks](/risks) before comparing advertised yields.
