Options are financial contracts that give someone the right - but not the obligation - to buy or sell an asset at a specific price, at or before a specific time.
Real-life analogy: Think of paying a deposit to reserve a plane ticket at a fixed price. You’re not required to buy it, but if prices rise, you win. That’s an option.
Instead of a traditional token airdrop, The Vault uses a points → options → tokens system to reward users and distribute $V in a more sustainable way.
Users farm points by engaging with Vault strategies (e.g. vSOL Multiply).
At the end of a season, points convert to options.
Each option gives the user the right to mint $V tokens at a fixed price (strike price).
If the market price is higher than the strike, the user gets $V at a discount - win!
Funds from minting go directly to The Vault treasury, strengthening the protocol.
You earn 100,000 points in a season.
Conversion rate: 10 points = 1 option → You get 10,000 options.
Strike price: 0.0006 vSOL per $V
Token is trading at 0.0010 vSOL → You exercise your options, pay 6 vSOL, and receive 10,000 $V, gaining 4 vSOL in value.
If the market price is lower than 0.0006? You simply don’t use the option. That’s the beauty - it’s optional.
Reduces sell pressure Options are only exercised when market conditions are favorable, minimizing the risk of instant token sell pressure.
Aligns incentives Only engaged users who actively participate earn options and benefit from them.
Builds protocol reserves Payments made when exercising options go directly to the Vault treasury, funding future growth and resilience.
Encourages long-term value The mechanism rewards commitment over speculation, fostering a healthier token economy.
In early seasons, strike prices and mechanics will be simple and announced in advance. As we evolve, we’ll move to smarter models (like using volume-weighted average prices) to prevent manipulation and improve fairness.
