๐ณ๏ธ Community Council
Learn how squads choose Council representatives and how the Council contributes to community decisions.
The Community Council gives squads a voice in The Vault Discord. Each squad selects up to five members to represent it on the Council. Representatives review community proposals, take part in Prefect selection and help review moderation appeals.

How Council members are selected
Each squad chooses its own representatives, up to a maximum of five Council members per squad. A squad can select fewer than five members. Speak with your squad's leadership about its selection process and available places.
A Council seat is a community responsibility. Representatives bring their squad's perspective to discussions while considering the wider community. Being a Major or Prefect does not automatically give you a Council seat.
What the Council does
Council members contribute in three main areas:
| Area | Council responsibility | What happens next |
|---|---|---|
| Community governance | Review community proposals, discuss their impact and vote through the current Council process. | Follow the proposal's voting instructions and announced decision. A supported submission still needs review. |
| Prefect applications | Read applications and vote on candidates. | Staff review the applications and Council input, then give final approval. |
| Moderation appeals | Review the case and vote on whether an appealed infraction should be overturned. | The appeal process applies the result under its voting rules. |
Community governance proposals
Members can suggest improvements through Community submissions. Proposals that reach the required community support move into the governance discussion process. Council representatives read the proposal, consider questions and concerns, and participate in the Council vote.
Check the current proposal and Council announcements for voting dates and instructions. A Council seat gives you a role in reviewing community decisions; it does not mean every suggestion is automatically approved or implemented.
Prefect selection
The Council reviews and votes on Prefect applications. Staff then review and approve the appointments. The Council vote is part of the selection process, and final approval rests with staff (Figure 19.16).

Council members should assess applications fairly, consider the applicant's answers and community conduct, and give useful reasons for their decisions.
Moderation appeals
A member who appeals an infraction asks the Council to review the case. Council members consider the explanation and available evidence, then vote using the appeal's instructions. Read the full case and voting deadline before taking part. The Prefects page explains the public moderation and appeal process.
Open your Council dashboard
The bot provides Council members with a personal dashboard link for reviewing Prefect applications.
Request your link
Use /council in The Vault's Discord server. Access requires your Community Council role.
Open the personal message
Open the dashboard link the bot sends you privately. Keep your personal access link private. If direct-message delivery fails, the bot provides the link in its private command response. You can enable direct messages from server members for future requests.
Review and vote
Read the applications available in your dashboard and submit your votes. Follow the current Council instructions for governance proposals and appeal polls in their respective channels.
Weekly role rewards
Council members receive 5,000 credits, five raffle tickets and three Quest Scrolls each week. These role rewards are distributed on Monday at 01:00 UTC, after the weekly ticket reset.
Council rewards are separate from Major and Prefect rewards. If you also hold one of those roles, the Council allocation can be added to that role's allocation. Major and Prefect allocations themselves do not stack: the Major allocation takes priority. See Economy for how the items work.
Working with other community roles
Majors are chosen by staff to host game events and automatically have Prefect powers. Prefects handle community moderation after Council voting and staff approval. Council membership comes from squad selection and focuses on representation and review.
The Validator Board has a separate remit: reviewing validator applications. A Community Council seat does not make you a Validator Board member.
