✨ Points Program

Engage and earn with our rewarding community points initiative.

The Vault Points Program rewards participation in The Vault and its supported integrations. vPoints are on-chain rewards that work as options to purchase $V during a season's exercise window.

Earning Points

Points can be earned by participating in select DeFi integrations, with more earning methods to come. Each season's points work as $V options that you can exercise to purchase $V, The Vault's combined governance and utility token. To claim your points, see How to collect vPoints.

On-Chain Points: A Game-Changer

Unlike traditional points systems, vPoints are SPL tokens, fully integrated on-chain for transparency and usability.

Ways to Earn Points

You can earn points in two ways (Figure 4.11):

  • Option 1: Standard staking mechanisms.
  • Option 2: Providing liquidity.

Providing Liquidity

Providing liquidity can expose you to impermanent loss, smart contract risk and liquidity constraints. vSOL represents a share of the stake pool; its pool redemption rate and market trading price can differ. Staking rewards normally increase the pool rate, but returns and recovery of funds are not guaranteed. See Risks.

Only the vSOL portion of your deposit earns Liquid Staking Token (LST) staking rewards.

vPoints are fully on-chain SPL tokens earned through either standard staking mechanisms or providing liquidity, while only the vSOL portion of a liquidity deposit earns LST staking rewards.

Exercise vPoints to Purchase $V

vPoints cannot be locked. During a season's exercise window, you exercise them to purchase $V at that season's strike price, paying in vSOL. Points do not automatically become $V: you choose whether to exercise and make the required payment at thevault.finance/exercise-tokens (Figure 4.12).

Earned vPoints work as options. During an exercise window, pay the season's strike price to purchase $V. Only the purchased $V can be locked; vPoints cannot be locked.

Figure 4.12: Exercise points, then choose whether to lock $V

After purchasing $V, you can choose to lock $V for veV voting power. Each wallet has one lock with one expiry date. You can add more $V to it at any time, including after extending it; added tokens share the existing expiry. Use another wallet only when you want a separate lock duration.

See Points Program Season 5 for historical terms. Use the live exercise page for current availability, and Introduction to options for the mechanics.

Program History

The initial vPoint earning phase ended on July 18, 2025, ahead of The Vault's Token Generation Event on July 23, 2025. Later points seasons have their own earning terms and exercise windows.

Use Purchased $V in the Community Pool

After exercising vPoints to purchase $V, you can lock that $V and delegate its veV to the Community Pool. The pool shares validator earnings as VLP rewards. The system takes reward snapshots automatically for you, so no manual snapshot is required. It may take up to two weeks after delegation for snapshots to begin. Claim available VLP manually once an epoch is funded and finalized. This reward path does not make vPoints lockable and does not change season exercise terms.
